Lobby Day - What To Expect

Before arriving at The Statehouse, you will want to know your State Senator and Representative’s name, Columbus office address and what they look like. Visit http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/o/51046/getLocal.jsp and type in your zip code. Click on the State Senator and State Representative’s names to view all of their contact information and pictures. If you would like to print both of these and bring it to The Statehouse, it can be very helpful in locating them amongst the crowd of lawmakers.

It is extremely encouraged to call ahead of time and set up an appointment with both your State Senator and State Representative.  Since you are taking the time to go to The Statehouse, you should make it a priority to spend at least a few minutes face-to-face with each of the state lawmakers who represent you. However, without calling ahead to set up an appointment, there is no guarantee that they will be able to meet with you.

Upon arriving at The Statehouse, you will go through security and a metal detector and then proceed to the Ohio NORML Info Table located in the Museum Gallery on the first floor of The Statehouse.   Pick up any info sheets you will want to leave with your elected officials from the Ohio NORML Info Table.

Go to your State Senator and State Representative’s offices (these will be two different buildings) and ask the Legislative Assistant if you can have a few minutes of the lawmaker’s time or that you are there for your scheduled appointment.

Ask them how they would vote if a Bill was introduced or if they would support medical, recreational, and industrial cannabis use in Ohio. If the lawmaker is not in their office, ask the assistant where they are.

If they are in a committee hearing or caucus meeting, it helps to go to that specific room and wait for them to come out.  Once they exit the room, approach them, introduce yourself and let them know why you are there.  Feel free to share your thoughts with them, but be polite and respectful of their time.

If you are unable to speak with them, leave the info sheets and Ohio NORML business card provided at the Ohio NORML table  with their assistant so that they will know you visited.

Ohio NORML Representatives will be available at the following locations throughout the day:

9:00AM - 1:30PM ~ Museum Gallery 1st Floor

1:30PM - 3:00PM ~ Cafeteria

9:00AM - Close ~ Visiting Representatives

We would like to encourage attendees to watch the following video
